Short version. CipherGlyph Viewer has no account. It does not collect analytics. Saved addresses stay on the iPhone. The camera reads a public address QR in the moment. No photo is stored or sent to us. Lookup asks a public block explorer for issuer history. We do not get a copy of that request beyond what the explorer itself logs.
Who this covers
This policy covers the iPhone app CipherGlyph Viewer and this website (cipherglyph.org). The Teacher Kit on GitHub is a separate public repository with its own GitHub privacy terms.
What we do not collect
- No name, email, Apple ID, or account.
- No advertising identifier, analytics SDK, or crash reporter.
- No contacts. Share uses the system share sheet. The app does not read the address book.
- No keys, seed phrases, or wallet files. This is a reader, not a wallet.
- No photos from the camera roll. The scanner is for QR codes only.
What stays on the iPhone
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Saved addresses and optional nicknames | On this iPhone only. You can delete them in the app. Deleting the app deletes them. |
| Last decode cache for a saved address | On this iPhone only. Used when the explorer is unreachable. It is not a fresh check. |
What leaves the iPhone
When you tap Look up, the app asks the public explorer for that chain's issuer (treasury) history, then keeps GLY1 payloads whose hash160 matches the address you scanned or pasted. The scanned address is never the explorer query.
Today only BadCoin lookup is connected. That call goes to the public BadCoin explorer. Bitcoin and Dogecoin walls are not configured yet, so those addresses are not sent to an explorer.
We do not operate that explorer. Its operator sees whatever a public web lookup would see.
Camera
The iPhone permission prompt says: CipherGlyph Viewer scans a QR code to read a public address. No photo is stored or sent anywhere. If you deny camera access, you can still paste an address.
This website
This site is static files on GitHub Pages. We do not run an account system or an analytics tag on these pages. GitHub, as host, may log requests per GitHub's own policy.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
